DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY

Physiology is one of the 1st year subjects taught for MBBS., BDS., MDS., BPT/BOT, B.Sc. Nursing and other allied courses. Division of Physiology also has post graduates in Physiology. Division of Physiology was started in 1985, when the college was started, It was first started at Kogle Hall. Later in 1987, it was shifted to Rajah Muthiah Institute of health sciences. Division of Physiology has Hematology lab, clinical lab, Human Lab, Amphibian Lab and Research Lab. All the labs are equiped with adequate infrastructures as prescribe by the MCI. It has one Demonstration hall with all audio visual aids.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe the normal functions of all organ systems regulatory mechanisms and interactions of the various organs for well co-ordinated total body function.
2. Understand the basic principles, mechanism and homeostatic control of all the functions of human body as a whole.
3. Elucidate the physiological aspect of normal growth and development.
4. Lay emphasis on applied aspect of physiological functions underlying disease state.
5. Acquire the skills to do the experiments for study of physiological function.
6. Distinguish between normal and abnormal data derived as a result of tests which he/she performed and observed in the laboratory.
